Julie Dumoulin in De Tijd: 'Becoming a manager? I want to put that off as long as possible'

In De Tijd's one-on-one interview series (17 October 2026), Julie Dumoulin, co-founder and chief revenue officer of Spotable, explains how the Ghent-based construction tech company grew in two years to around 30 employees and 350 customers in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the United States.
She looks back on how Spotable started. Sebastien Vandendriessche first built software to spot swimming pools on aerial images, until a roofer asked whether it could work for roofs too. Together with Pieter-Jan Philips and Julie, that idea grew into a platform that lets roofers measure roofs digitally and prepare quotes faster.
The conversation also covers the recent €4 million funding round, the new office at Ghent's Zuidpark, and Julie's plan to move to the US next summer to build out the American business. The common thread is her view on sales: often underrated in Europe, yet for her one of the most important skills an entrepreneur can have.
